Not much new over here... The summer, as I expected flew by with me doing oooooo nothing >.< So I feel screwed.

I'm back on the ent at the moment here he is. I've been working on a house too... Its in the texturing phase so here we go...

OK not that I think anyone really reads this blog but ehh... so I haven't been doing stuff for a while. Classes were being mean. But I am making a game with a good friend of mine at school and I'm thinking that this piece actually might make it in. Now I put the Ent on hold and have been working on THIS...

It starts with a snail...

On the snail grew a tree...

Around the tree sprung up a village... (This is just the start of it.)

Hand works?

Alright, so I have been working on the most humanish hand that this Ent will have.

This is sort of how I started it. I pulled the fingers out though.

Then I ended up with something along the lines of a human hand.

Then I pulled, thined, and sharpened the hand so that I would have something more like thin roots as fingers.

Heres the last of the feet I think... I think that I have gotten a little excited about what this will be and I haven't found a rhythm yet (for the blog) so I'm going to post slowly, less inept I guess is what I mean.

Its like 89 degrees and I'm doing this on a black leather couch with a laptop so lets just say this is a SLOW process. I have been taking breaks after I attached each toe. Due to this its taken WAY to long to get that other foot where it is though I have basically prepped everything I need to make tacos for dinner O.o

So I have been chipping away at this in like 30 min intervals every day... this is how I left it.

I quickly scrapped it and modeled each toe seperatly. This is most likely a bad idea in most situations but its just what I felt like doing for this project. Also I should add that blocking out your character in one swift motion is usually a good idea. By this I mean make a very crude boxy shape of your character and work that. I never really liked that approach but most people seem to find that to be easiest.

Its not completely complete but I don't think I will really bother to post about the feet anymore. NOW TO WORK ON THE BODY!!!

Alright so the first of my posts will be my current work in progress, my ent! Now I started him the other day but haven't been able to spend to much time on him but I think I will get a chance now that my summer classes are on break. Here is a pic of how I am doing right now.

This how I started to build the foot of my Ent. I start by building his lower leg. In the pic you can see that all I did was build the outline and fill it in. The next step will be to pull it out into 3D.

This is sort of what the other leg is going to look like. You can see the one I'm working on in the back ground. I started with what I would call the bark part of the leg. The "toes" being the roots I built later and stuck on because I was not entirely sure how I wanted to do it. I am also not entirely finished with the top but of the leg but its coming out rather nicely I think!

I do not quite know if I am going to be doing a good job at explaining my steps here but if at some point someone actually starts reading this and wants more detail somewhere or something let me know!

Alright so here is my first post on here. First of all, I am going to thank blogflux for the theme. I'm not going to have time for a while to write my own code at the moment so this will have to do for now! I'm going to be using this site to do a step by step of my works in progress so yay happy day!
